Creating new opportunities
The Elland Rail Station and gateway project will improve the transport network in Calderdale, improve connectivity across Elland, and support local business.
We’re planning on building a new rail station location on the existing Calder Valley route. Due to engineering, environmental and operational constraints, the location of the proposed station is mostly fixed at a location off Lowfields Way. The station platforms will be positioned on the existing embankment at an elevated level, with lift and stepped access provided from car park level.
Alongside development of the rail station, a package of improvements has been developed to improve access to the proposed station location from across Elland, and from the wider area through improvements to the existing cycle network.
These proposed measures range from three new pedestrian and cycle bridges crossing the River Calder and Calder Hebble Navigation, improvements to existing pedestrian and cycle routes, and public realm enhancements across the project area.
The Elland Access Package is jointly managed by Calderdale Council, who are delivering the wider access package, and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority who are delivering Elland rail station.
